Mr. Graham E.Cooke - the founder of the World Tourism Awards, emphasized that Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination of the world with a long coastline of over 3,000 km, dynamic economy and colorful culture. Currently, the world is very fascinated with travel and experience, so the World Tourism Awards that Vietnam received is a golden opportunity for Vietnam tourism to promote and attract more and more international friends. It is also a factor that helps tourism develop sustainably, bringing in revenue and creating jobs for local people.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, the General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, affirmed that Vietnam is one of the fastest growing tourism countries in the world thanks to various beautiful landscapes and also one of the top tourist attractions in the world. In 2018, Vietnam welcomed 15.5 million international arrivals, which was almost double that figure for 2015. The average growth rate is about 30%/year, contributes over 8.3% of the country's GDP. In 2019, Vietnam tourism expects to welcome 17.5-18 million international tourists and soon becomes a key economic sector of the country.

At the Awards, more than 50 of the best travel brands and destinations in the Asia and Oceania region were honored. Vietnam is nominated in more than 200 categories, including nominations at the national level and tourism business and tourism agencies. Among them, there are 4 critical awards that Vietnam excellently won, which are: "Asia's Leading Destination 2019", "Asia's Leading Culinary Destination 2019", "Asia's Leading Cultural Destination 2019" and "Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination 2019"- Hoi An.

This is the second consecutive year Vietnam tourism achieved the title of "Asia's Leading Destination". Especially, this is the first time our cuisine was recognized by the prestigious world-class organization and received the "Asia's Leading Culinary Destination 2019" award albeit being highly appreciated  by the world for a long time.

Along with the national tourism award, 25 Vietnam tourism and travel service businesses were also honored to receive the awards. The fact that Vietnam was nominated and received awards in many categories shows that the attractiveness of Vietnam tourism is spreading widely on the world tourism map. The quality, and the brand of Vietnam as a tourist destination is increasingly confirmed. The Award is also an opportunity to strongly promote the Vietnam tourism image to the international tourism community.

At the ceremony, WTA also emphasized that Vietnam Tourism was nominated in 6 "World Leading's" categories, including the nomination for the award "World's Leading Culinary Destination 2019". Besides, Vietnam is the most brilliant candidate for the "Asia's Best Golf Destination" award, one category of the "World Golf Awards 2019" which will be held on 29th October 2019 in Abu Dhabi. Before that, Vietnam has won this award for two consecutive years.
 
The World Travel Awards, held annually since 1993, have become the world's top award to honor outstanding achievements of the travel industry such as passenger carriers, airports, hotels, resorts, tour operators, tourist destinations... Regional and continental award ceremonies occur globally before the Grand World Travel Awards Ceremony, which will take place in Muscat, Oman on 28th November 2019.
