We decided to book a three-day and two-night private villa and hotel rooms at Vinpearl Resort & Spa to fully experience the top-tier privacy and high-quality facilities of the Vinpearl Phu Quoc Complex.
With a total area of nearly 12 hectares and a location along Bai Dai Beach, which was voted as one of the top 13 most beautiful and pristine beaches in the world, this resort complex boasts Vinpearl Golf Phu Quoc and many other world-class attractions, such as Vinpearl Safari, VinWonders and Vincharm Spa - which will meet the needs of all members in the family.
The impression that this resort left on me
Location: The resort is situated 22km from the center of Phu Quoc and about 33km from the airport, but visitors can catch a free shuttle bus from the airport to Vinpearl and vice versa. Visitors can also access entertainment destinations, such as Vinpearl Safari, VinWonders and the only 27-hole golf course on the island with ease.
F&B: The local cuisine scene is lcoated faraway from the bustling town center and this may pose some challenges to visitors. When I wanted to explore the regional customs and famous local dishes, it took me 40 minutes and a taxi fare of 300,000 VND to travel to my desired destination, plus the time waiting for the shuttle bus.
In return, the F&B system within our accomodation features 3 amazing restaurants, two of which serve buffets and one offers BBQ-style seafood. I decided to book a 3-meal F&B package within the resort because moving to the town center was quite inconvenient. With its collection of European, Asian and Vietnamese delicacies, Vinpearl's cuisine did not disappoint, however.
If you love Western dishes, you will definitely love the breakfast, which boasts more than 10 types of toast, omelette, bacon and a variety of delicious jams. You can also enjoy the cuisine across 3 regions of Vietnam with spring rolls, beef noodle, and Hanoian vermicelli with grilled meat.
From 8-9AM, I had to wait in line for a long time to enjoy my favorite dish of vermicelli. The stalls were all packed with people. If you want to dine in a quiet space without having to stand in the queue, visit the restaurant early in the morning or after the peak hour.
At lunch, rice and noodle stalls will open. Dinner time is also great for visitors can savor hot and grilled staples. However, the menu barely changed during our stay. The seafood options, such as oysters, squids and shrimps, can definitely be more diverse.
The staff is always available if you want to have breakfast at the room. I had a new experience of eating from a floating tray in the pool. For those who love to check-in or capture virtual photos for social media, this catering option is definitely stellar.
Sea View Bar: Phu Quoc is one of the most beautiful places to watch sunset in Vietnam. Anyone who visits the Pearl Island should not miss out on this surreal experience.
On the first day of the stay, visitors will be served free cocktails at Sim Bar. I ordered more desserts and fruits to snack on while enjoying the late evening vibes. Due to its prime location, this bar is often crowded in the afternoon and it won't be easy to find an empty spot.
Campus: The resort has an impressive area of 12 hectares. The streets are covered with green trees on both sides - which makes the place ideal for visitors to explore, go cycling, or take a romantic walk when the sun goes down. The tram service that picks us up from the room was convenient, but took a bit long to arrive.
Facilities: Vinpearl Resort & Spa has a total of 671 hotel and villa rooms with elegant and sophisticated settings. Visitors can choose a hotel room for a two-person trip or stay in a private villa while having fun with their family or groups of friends. The villas are nestled along the white coastlines and provide direct access to the sea, while other facilities overlook lush gardens.
During our three-day and two-night stay, we booked both a hotel room and a private villa to fully experience the privacy and comfort at Vinpearl Phu Quoc.
The check-in time for us was 2 PM in the afternoon. We checked out before noon. Before choosing this destination, I consulted many customer feedbacks on travel forums and websites. On the famous Booking.com site, Vinpearl Resort & Spa received a high score of 8.6/10. A customer named Mai commented: "The staff here was friendly, professional, and provided great service regardless of the customer's nationality." Some comments, however, also pointed out that the resort is located faraway from residential areas and near construction works, which caused some noises near the entrance area.
From the 14-15th of the month, the number of guests who checked in was massive. Although I arrived during the peak hours, I felt quite comfortable during my wait in the Ocean Wing Lobby. This area has many sofa and we were served with refreshing beverages.
The tram took us to a 4-bedroom villa, with a swimming pool overlooking the sea. On the way, the staff told us that this was the best spot in the resort for sunset watching.
I was surpirsed upon entering the villa, which features classic designs and a contemporary touch with high ceilings that create a luxury and classy ambiance. The living room and kitchen space are interconnected. This place is suitable for families and groups of friends who want to enjoy a private vacation and hold a nice BBQ party.
I had a relaxing time in the small bath to wash the tiredness away with gentle and natural bodycare products. Each bathroom has a hairdryer with hot/cold mode.
The bedroom has a separate working desk. The master room has a modern sofa and table set, featuring a large bathroom that is divided by the dressing area. The plus point for the rooms here is the large glass door design and the balcony. When I woke up in the morning, I sprung the doors open and could joyfully embrace the sounds of the nearby ocean waves.
Special outfits: I like the way Vinpearl resorts create their own highlights. When I posted a check-in photo with the resort's blue robe and special vignettes on social media, many friends of mine immediately recognized the accommodation that I chose for the vacation. It seems that the 5-star resort system here has become popular, especially after the wedding of singers Dong Nhi and Ong Cao Thang.
Swimming pool: Vinpearl Resort & Spa is honored by World Travel Awards 2019 as the leading beach resort for families in Vietnam and Asia. This resort boasts the largest swimming pool on the Pearl Island, which has an area of nearly 5,000 m2 that is divided into adult and children pools.
Oasis spa: This resort has a unique Balinese-style spa with spa huts and friendly staff. You can enjoy the 60-minute full body massage package. Since I didn't want to walk in the scorching 28-degree-Celsius weather, I called a tram to the spa. The service price is quite high, but compared to other resorts of the same segment in the region, it is not expensive at all.
The movie theater on the beach: In the midst of a large space sets a beautiful movie theater. This place uses a 200-inch screen, giving visitors an unforgettable experience. You can sit on a lazy chair, take a sip of a colorful cocktail and watch a nice romcom.
Weather conditions affect many screenings. To fully enjoy the 90-minute movie, I think you should prepare an insect repellent.
Note during the trip
Phu Quoc has a tropical monsoon climate. Its rainy season lasts from May to October, and dry season from November to April next year. Each season on this island has its own beauty.
The dry season is the best time to visit Phu Quoc, but the cost to travel during this season is quite expensive. If you want to travel on a budget, go to Phu Quoc from April-June. This time the sea is not too turbulent, and the weather is quite pleasant with little rain.
Airway is the most reasonable choice for those who want to save travel time. The flight from Hanoi - Phu Quoc takes about 2 hours and the Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route takes just over 1 hour. From here, you can book a taxi for about 300,000 VND/ one way or transfer directly to the resort.
In addition, you can also travel by road and waterways to cut down on the costs. The fare for a passenger car that takes the HCMC - Rach Gia route is 280,000 VND/ person. From Rach Gia, tourists can catch the high-speed train to Phu Quoc with a ticket price of 300,000 VND/ person.
To save costs, you can use promotions and trustworthy combo packages, which include round-trip tickets, accommodation offerings. Plan early and book smartly to enjoy the best prices. Don't forget to take the time to visit Vinpearl Safari - a one-of-a-kind animal conservation park where you can discover wildlife, and have a blast at VinWonders Phu Quoc at reasonable prices!;;;
