2. History of Du Hang Pagoda Hai Phong

Du Hang Pagoda, also known as Phuc Lam Tu, is a significant ancient temple with a rich history that spans thousands of years. Its large scale served not only as a place for ancestor and deity worship but also as a military training base for soldiers and a place for nurturing officers during resistance wars.

The temple's origins date back to the Early Le Dynasty (980–1009), when a master came to teach the Dharma and enlighten Buddhist teachings during the reign of King Le Dai Hanh. In the reign of King Le Gia Tong (1672), venerable Nguyen Dinh Sach, also known as Chan Huyen, invested in the pagoda, buying land and constructing a grand temple with bell towers, ancestral halls, and monk's quarters.

Despite the challenges of history, generations of abbots, monks, and Buddhist followers have tirelessly maintained and beautified the pagoda, making it more majestic and stunning each day. Over the years, Du Hang Pagoda Hai Phong City has undergone numerous renovations and expansions while still retaining its ancient architectural beauty. Today, it has become a popular spiritual tourism destination that both locals and visitors frequently visit to admire its beauty and rich history.
