When the Song army invaded, the prince sought the king’s permission to join the battle.

After emerging victorious, the prince fell ill and passed away. The king, deeply saddened by his loss, constructed a temple in his land in honor of the prince. Legend has it that before heading into battle, a war elephant knelt at the prince's feet to allow him to mount.
